Nico Paz sparkled for Como against Manchester United and has now attracted interest from Chelsea.

The Argentine put in the best performance of his season on Wednesday, grabbing a brace as part of a 4-1 triumph. His movement constantly caused problems for the Red Devils, who couldn’t deal with Como’s free-flowing approach to the game.

The attacking midfielder has been key to Cesc Fabregas’ system over two seasons now. Sport Witness have previously covered how Tottenham Hotspur made offers to land him but were left out-priced by Como.

The Italian side themselves put in a huge amount of effort to sign him permanently from Real Madrid in the summer. Now, the player is attracting interest from other major clubs – with Chelsea in the hunt.

Blues have scouted Argentine

Tuttomercatoweb report that Chelsea are ‘hot on the trail’ of the attacking midfielder. While Real Madrid retain the option to buy him back for €80m, Como will push the price to a much higher limit for other suitors.

The Blues have been keeping a close eye on the Argentina international too. They watched him impress against Fiorentina at the weekend, also sending scouts to take a closer look in the Champions League tie against Feyenoord. There is every chance they also had emissaries present for the game against Manchester United.

The report notes that Chelsea won’t have problems paying a huge amount, as they will monitor him ‘game after game’.

The outlet further clarify that Nico Paz has growth from an athletic standpoint this season. His growth is expected to continue, with Como possibly even in a title race this season.

Huge asking price likely

Even when Tottenham Hotspur came calling for the 22-year-old, Como were very confident in their stance over his valuation. A similar pattern has followed when other clubs have tried to sign their best players and Fabregas’ side have never been giving discounts.

That is exactly why Chelsea will face several hurdles, if they want Nico Paz. Como’s valuation would easily be over €100m, especially if they manage to finish inside the Champions League spots this season.

The Blues should, as a result, keep monitoring the situation and assess if the money is worth it or not.
