Newcastle United have scouted Fenerbahçe’s Ferdi Kadıoğlu on more than one occasion this year and earlier reports from the Turkish press stated they had received ‘very positive reports’ about the player.
The Magpies have continued to keep tabs on the 23-year-old, according to Akşam.
It’s claimed Newcastle ‘want’ Kadıoğlu, who can operate on both sides of defence, as a wing-back and also further forward as a winger. He has three goals and three assists from 43 games this season.
Fenerbahçe want €20m to part ways with the Turkey international, who is looking forward to leaving his employer in the next window. He wants to take the next step in his career and that may be achieved by joining the Tyneside club.
Newcastle are in contention to qualify for the Champions League and Eddie Howe would require more options to rotate next season. Therefore, his side ‘plan to add’ Kadıoğlu to their squad by paying €20m to Fenerbahçe.
Akşam states: ‘… the European giant, who sends observers to Fenerbahçe matches, is close to completing the transfer.’
Since no other club apart from Newcastle are mentioned in the report, it could suggest Howe’s side seem to be the one close to completing a deal for the versatile player.
