AS Roma will face competition from Newcastle United in the race to sign Gabriel Sara and Issa Doumbia. Everton are also keen on signing the Galatasaray star, while Brentford are chasing the Sporting midfielder.

Sara joined the Turkish champions in August 2024 after spending two years at Norwich City. He has caught the Premier League’s attention, where Newcastle United and Everton are among his suitors.

Meanwhile, Brentford failed to take the 23-year-old away from the Portuguese club in the summer.

Newcastle United and Everton want Sara

The Brazil international has 101 appearances for Galatasaray, managing 10 goals and 20 assists. This season, he has two goals and five assists in 14 matches.

Earlier this week, Sport Witness covered reports from Brazil explaining that Newcastle United, Everton, Aston Villa and Brighton & Hove Albion are in the picture to sign him. The Süper Lig winners are ready to let him leave in January for around €35m.

TuttoMercatoWeb covers Roma, the Magpies and Everton interest in the midfielder. The outlet says it’s their own updates about Gabriel Sara and Issa Doumbia. The Serie A side want a midfielder in the winter market and have identified the duo as targets.

The Giallorossi could consider making a concrete move to sign Sara in the coming weeks. Roma will face ‘fierce competition’ from Newcastle United, Everton and Napoli as the trio are also keen.

Matthias Jaissle’s side and the Toffees are making moves, and both are ‘ready to invest’ €25m to secure his services. Galatasaray’s demand, as per the earlier report, is €10m more than that.

Newcastle United and Brentford in mix for Doumbia

The 23-year-old Italian has enjoyed a good start since joining Sporting from Venezia in the summer. The Lions overcame Brentford and the Tyneside club to secure his services.

Last month, Sport Witness relayed news that Newcastle United haven’t given up on Issa Doumbia and Brentford are also pursuing the midfielder.

TMW now reports Roma are keen on bringing him back to Italy as early as January. That won’t be easy because he has a contract until 2031, and it has an €80m release clause.

Besides this, Newcastle United and Brentford are pursuing Doumbia, making it even more challenging for Roma.
