Bosnia and Herzegovina manager Sergej Barbarez says Newcastle United could have prevented Amar Dedić from aggravating his injury, forcing him to withdraw from the national team.
In the summer, the Premier League side signed the right-back from Benfica for around €35m.
Matthias Jaissle, who replaced Eddie Howe at Newcastle United in August, had previously managed him at Red Bull Salzburg.
The 24-year-old has featured regularly for the Magpies, playing 463 minutes from seven matches and contributing three assists.
Dedić, after finishing three full 90 minutes, played 58 minutes in Newcastle United’s 4-1 defeat to Leeds United. Last weekend, he missed his side’s 2-1 league win over Hull City.

Sergej Barbarez had included the 24-year-old in his squad for the four fixtures before forcing to make changes. On Monday, he spoke at a press conference and Izdvojeno have relayed his comments.
He confirmed Amar Dedić has suffered a hamstring injury and won’t represent the national team. Although it’s worse, the defender will return to Matthias Jaissle’s squad after the international break.
“Unfortunately, Amar Dedić re-injured himself against Leeds. The hamstring injury is more severe than it was before. If he had rested for that game, he would be ready now,” he said.
“Unfortunately, that’s how it goes. He’ll be out for three to four weeks; his club expects him to be ready for their first game after the break, but unfortunately, he won’t be able to be with us.”
No major concern for Newcastle United
The manager’s admission about the player should come as an encouragement for the Premier League side.
Amar Dedić can take advantage of the international break to focus on his recovery and make himself available when Newcastle United host Coventry City on October 12th.
Last summer, he joined Benfica and played 46 matches. Their manager, Marco Silva, was unhappy with his sale to the Magpies.
The Bosnian’s start to his Premier League career has shown Silva was right to want to hold on to him.
