Brentford star Michael Kayode is very much in the spotlight in Italy this week, and it’s leading to plenty of transfer talk.

The 22-year-old made his debut for the Italian national team in the 4-1 win over Türkiye on Monday, bagging a goal in the win to boot.

It was the next step in a continued rise for the full-back, who has done nothing but impress since joining Burnley on loan from Fiorentina in January last year.

That deal was made permanent for €17.5m in July and he’s gone from strength to strength, establishing himself as one of the leading right-backs in the Premier League.

Juventus return?

That’s led to questions about how big clubs, like Juventus, ever allowed him to leave. Kayode was a part of Juve’s youth set up earlier in his career, before eventually leaving for Gozzano in 2020.

He’s since commented on how the Italian club missed out on him twice, and why they perhaps allowed him and other youngsters to leave. Now eyes are back on him.

Some are even suggesting the Brentford defender should be a target for Juventus in future.

Icon speaks

Claudio Marchisio is happy to play on that. The former midfielder turned agent was asked about the Brentford star this week by Gazzetta dello Sport.

“Kayode was rejected by Juve as a child? You can reach the top in different ways; it happens. Maybe he’ll come back to Juve as a star,” he said.

TuttoJuve then add that the Bianconeri are looking for a full-back. It ‘cannot be ruled out’ that the Italian international could become a primary target for the club.

If that does happen, they’ll have to pay a big price. Brentford have the defender locked to a deal until 2032. He is also currently valued at €40m by the likes of Transfermarkt. That figure is only likely to keep increasing
