Manchester United have Borussia Dortmund’s Julian Ryerson on their target list for the summer.

The Norway international’s impressive performances have already caught Manchester United’s attention.

Two months ago, Sport Witness covered claims from Germany that both the Red Devils and Newcastle United are in the mix to sign him.

The right-back has had a standout season for the Bundesliga side, managing 18 assists from 42 matches.

His league stats this season are as follows:

  • Appearances: 31
  • Starts: 26
  • Total minutes: 2,272
  • Assists: 15
  • Expected Assists: 10.04
  • Key passes per game: 1.8
  • Big chances created: 22
  • Tackles per game: 1.1
  • Recoveries per game: 3.9
  • Duels won per game: 2.9

These statistics gives an indication of his contributing to BVB, both while attacking and defending.

Manchester United keen on Ryerson

Michale Carrick’s side continue to keep an eye on the 28-year-old, after initially looking at him in March.

Sky Deutschland now pick up on that and their title reads: ‘Manchester United interested in Borussia Dortmund defender Julian Ryerson’.

Within the report, they explain his impressive performances have resulted in interest from the Premier League and only the Red Devils get a mention.

Manchester United are ‘in the running’ to sign the player, as a backup for Diogo Dalot. The report makes it clear a potential move to Old Trafford will only go through if Noussair Mazraoui leaves.

Borussia Dortmund invested €5m to sign the fullback from 1. FC Union Berlin in January 2023.

As of now, the German club haven’t set a price tag but a fee of over €30m is expected in case of a transfer.

This would be within Manchester United’s reach. However, there’s no indication of them spending this on the assist king who will turn 29 years of age in November.
