Manchester City were keen on signing Konstantinos Karetsas before he joined KRC Genk from Anderlecht in 2023.
Last year, Karetsas’ father confirmed Manchester City, RB Leipzig and AC Milan had invited the 18-year-old “several times”. However, they rejected these clubs in order to join Genk.
Fast forward to November 2025 and Manchester City are now back in the mix for their old target.
That’s according to Het Laatste Nieuws, who indicate the past rejection hasn’t put off the Citizens.
It’s claimed Manchester City were one of 23 clubs to have sent their scouts to the Cegeka Arena to watch Karetsas live in action on Thursday.
He played the full 90 minutes in Genk’s 2-1 win over FC Basel in the Europa League. The attacking midfielder even got his name on the scoresheet as he scored his side’s second goal.
HLN clams the officials of Manchester City and other clubs would have gathered a positive report about the Belgium-born Greece international.
Pep Guardiola’s side, AC Milan, AS Monaco, Bayer Leverkusen and Borussia Dortmund have all shown interest in the player for some time.
With Manchester City keen, they would find it challenging to sign him in the near future.
Karetsas turned 18 years of age on November 19th and two days later, he signed a new contract until 2029.
