Pervis Estupinan has been close to joining Aston Villa for days, but the deal is facing hold-ups.
The left-back has been out of AC Milan’s project and this has been driving the move to Birmingham. An agreement between the two clubs has been close, with the player having failed to impress in his first season in Italy.

The left-back has been waiting for the deal to close, and will continue to do so.
Amorim wants to assess Estupinan
Daniele Longo reports that only final details of the deal are missing but Ruben Amorim is causing hold-ups. A move could be finalised soon but the Portuguese wants to assess the full-back for his own system.
Estupinan will return to training on 24th July and Amorim will see him from ‘up close’ at that point. This can play a key role in his exit, with Gazzetta dello Sport also reporting similar information.
The newspaper believe Amorim isn’t against the idea of keeping him in the squad for next season. He saw him in the Premier League at Manchester United and would like to understand whether he suits his setup or not. The Rossoneri boss also understands that it is difficult to find a player of his profile in the market right now.
As a result, Aston Villa may need an ‘irresistible offer’ to sign the Ecuadorian, who is likely to be in Australia for Milan’s pre-season.

AC Milan know that Aston Villa will earn a significant amount from Morgan Rogers’ sale. This is making multiple clubs ask for more.
This doesn’t mean the deal won’t go through, though. Milan are looking for a significant capital gain, having signed the 28-year-old in a package worth €19m last summer.
