As Liverpool celebrate Darwin Nunez’s goal which helped them beat Burnley on Boxing Day, Benfica also have a reason to smile about that performance.

As today reported by newspaper O Jogo, the striker’s latest appearance for the Reds will result in an extra payment worth €5m.

It’s recalled that Liverpool initially paid €75m for Nunez, with another potential €25m in bonuses, depending on performance goals.

The Reds paid €5m for his first ten starts for the club in the Premier League and Champions League. Now with him reaching 35 starts, another €5m is being paid.

There’s still a third €5m bonus in case he gets 60 starts in those competitions. Plus a €10m payment if Liverpool win any of those tournaments.

Since joining the Reds in the summer of 2022, Nunez had 23 goals and 11 assists in 39 appearances. O Jogo also uses their story to point out that the player still hasn’t fulfilled all the potential he used to exhibit in Portugal, although he’s still 24 and has plenty of time to succeed at Liverpool, who are currently top of the league table.
