Liverpool are keen on signing RB Leipzig’s Yan Diomande in the summer, as they look for an impressive incoming transfer.
On Wednesday, the Reds confirmed Mohamed Salah will leave the Premier League side at the end of the season.
The Egyptian has been the standout player for the Reds since he arrived at Anfield from AS Roma in 2017.
Liverpool have to bring in a replacement for Salah in the next window and have targets in their list. This includes Diomande, who joined Leipzig from Leganés for €20m in July 2025.
He enjoyed an impressive run in his debut season in the Bundesliga, scoring 11 goals and contributing eight assists from 29 matches. He mainly operated as a right winger, and his league statistics are as follows.
- Expected Goals: 5.5
- Expected Assists: 7.28
- Big chances created: 11
- Key passes per game: 1.7
- Shots on target per game: 0.8
- Goal conversion: 24%
Diomande’s performances have already caught the attention of a few clubs and Liverpool are among them.
Earlier in the season, Sport Witness covered claims from Germany that Arne Slot’s side, Manchester City and Chelsea are all keen. In January, the Ivory Coast international said he would like to join Liverpool.
At that time, he said: “I want to play for Liverpool. I’m a huge Liverpool fan. My dad dreams of seeing me play at Anfield!”
That’s as strong a come-and-get-me-plea as a club is ever likely to get.
Strong interest from Liverpool
RMC Sport have a report on the Yan Diomande as an option for the Anfield club to replace Salah.
The Merseyside club’s plan is to sign two wingers for next season, and the Ivorian is one of their targets.
They have strong interest, and their scouts have regularly followed him in action for RB Leipzig. Liverpool are ‘now looking to make a move’ to secure his services in the next window.
His earlier admission of wanting to play for the Anfield club gives them an edge during the potential transfer negotiations.
Contract, value and agent info
The player’s contract lasts until 2030, and Transfermarkt value him at €100m. Last month, Sport Witness relayed news that RB Leipzig could demand €100m for him.
Transfermarkt say Roc Nation Sports are taking care of Yan Diomande’s interest, but a recent document shows Maxidel Management are still representing him and there’s potential conflict over that.
