Newcastle United attempted to sign Davide Frattesi in the summer transfer window.

Inter Milan had signed Andy Diouf at that point, making the Italian’s future at the Nerazzurri uncertain.

Despite that, Inter rejected Newcastle United’s approach. Sport Witness were informed this was because they had plans for the midfielder this season.

So far this season, the Italy international has played less than 200 minutes in Serie A, and it’s turning into a frustrating situation.

Tuttomercatoweb report Frattesi finds his path blocked at Inter, especially with Petar Sucic impressing. Piotr Zielinski’s prominence in the side is also growing. As a result, a January exit is very likely for the 26-year-old midfielder.

The outlet note that the player’s last start for Inter came on 4th October. Since then, he has had to be happy with appearances off the bench. This is much different to how Simone Inzaghi used Frattesi until last season.

Newcastle United are thought to still be keen on the ex-Sassuolo player.

In January, a move could be much easier for the Magpies. Frattesi’s valuation has reduced since the summer and Eddie Howe’s side can land him for less.
