Over the weekend, the Italian press covered Newcastle United interest in signing Inter Milan’s Davide Frattesi.
The central midfielder has previously been linked with a host of Premier League clubs and a source has spoken to Sport Witness about the player’s situation.
Newcastle United have made initial contact with the 25-year-old’s entourage, and have interest in signing him this summer.
As things stand though, a move to St James’ Park has been described as ‘very difficult’ for Frattesi. This is because Inter see him as an important part of their side under new manager Cristian Chivu, who wants him to stay this summer.
Newcastle United have not made an offer for the midfielder either and with less than two weeks of the window left, a move is likely to prove quite complex.
Frattesi was on the sidelines of the Inter project under former manager Simone Inzaghi but things are likely to change under Chivu, who sees him as an effective player for his system.
The ex-Sassuolo player played only 1210 minutes in Serie A last season, scoring key Champions League goals against Bayern Munich and Barcelona.
