FC Dallas forward Petar Musa has admitted he was left disappointed that he couldn’t unite with Sergej Jakirovic at Hull City this summer.

The striker is currently shining in MLS, have joined Dallas in a €9m deal from Benfica back in 2024.

He’s since managed an impressive 55 appearances and 16 assists in 93 appearances for the American club, including 18 goals and six assists in 23 appearances this season.

Transfer speculation

It’s the best he’s been in his career to date, which has seen him play in Croatia, Czech Republic, Germany, Portugal and now America.

That led to transfer reports in the summer transfer window. Hull City were particularly keen, thanks to Jakirović. He’s shown a tendency to target Croatian talent since taking charge of the Tigers, although none of the current squad doesn’t have any compatriots in it.

Musa was more than aware of those rumours this summer. And now he admits that he was disappointed that actual transfer efforts fell by the wayside at the end of the transfer window.

“I’m glad they’re doing well, even though I’m not part of the team,” he told Sportske Novosti.

“Sergej Jakirović helped my career and wants to sign me. The transfer fell through late in the window. I was disappointed because my goal is to return to Europe; I hope I can make something happen this winter.”

Future move, maybe January

He’s now ruling out a move in future, though. In fact, after two years in America, he is very much eyeing up a return to Europe at some point. That could leave the door open for Hull to return in future.

“Of course, the goal is to return to Europe. That’s my wish, and I work on it every day -but I’m happy there,” he added.

“I have a very good status at the club. I’m playing, which is the most important thing to me; we’re getting excellent results. I want to finish the season the way we started, and then we’ll see.”
