West Ham United and Hull City missed out on signing 1. FC Nürnberg’s Mohamed Ali Zoma in the summer window. 

The Italian graduated from UC AlbinoLeffe and spent four years with their first team until 2025. He left the Serie C side for the second division club in August 2025.

Ali Zoma finished his debut season at Nürnberg with 14 goals and five assists from 29 matches, operating across several attacking positions. His performances convinced West Ham United and Hull City to make advances.

Unfortunately for the two English clubs, 1. FC Nürnberg didn’t entertain their bids and refused to open negotiations.

The German club are confident the attacker’s value will only rise further, allowing them to earn significantly more from his future sale.

Mohamed Ali Zoma’s contract lasts until 2029 and his value, as per Transfermarkt, is €8m. There has been a €7m raise since he joined his current club.

Taking this trend and his performances into account, Nürnberg were right to turn down West Ham United and the Tigers’ bids. They are on track to collect a substantial fee in the future.

Right call to reject West Ham and Hull City offers 

Earlier this month, Sport Witness covered a report from Germany explaining that he was unhappy with the club’s decision to reject the Championship side’s offer. There was no mention of Hull City or another club.

He seems to have changed his stance considering the start to this season. The attacker has scored five goals from five league matches. This has seen him receive his first call-up from Italy manager Roberto Mancinci for the upcoming international break.

This was possible because he stayed despite receiving offers from the Hammers and the Premier League side.

Top Serie A sides are now monitoring the player. If he were to continue his impressive run and also impress for Italy, Nürnberg may find it difficult to hold on to him for long.

It’s unclear whether Nuno Espírito Santo’s side or Hull City will return in January or next summer.
