Turkish intermediary Muzzi Özcan is denying any involvement in Fenerbahçe’s reported move for Tottenham midfielder Yves Bissouma.

That’s according to Fener Fans on X, who cover comments from Ahmet Ercanlar and Sercan Hamzaoğlu denying Özcan’s move in the potential transfer.

Fenerbahçe have been heavily linked with a move for the Tottenham midfielder over the last week, with it reported that Jose Mourinho is a big fan.

That was followed by a claim that a representative for Fenerbahçe’s had been sent to London to speak with Tottenham and Bissouma about a transfer.

Any excitement was pulled back today, though, as reports in the Turkish media indicated that Fenerbahçe had edged away after Tottenham’s demands for €15m had left them unimpressed. That’s seemingly a fee they do not want to pay for the midfielder.

It was also claimed in Turkey that Özcan had been assigned the project, and it was he who was leading talks in London with Tottenham and Bissouma. He’s an agent based in England and Germany and has been involved in various Turkish deals in the past.

That, though, has now been denied, with Özcan apparently determined to keep his name out of the reports.

“He didn’t go there for that,” Ercanlar is quoted as saying.

“First of all, the guy lives in England. His house is there. Secondly, he didn’t go there for Bissouma. He went for something else. There’s no Bissouma issue at all.”

“That guy’s house is there,” added Hamzaoğlu.

“He’s been there for years. I spoke to him an hour ago, and he told me he had absolutely no knowledge of that player. He said no one gave him permission.”

Fenerbahçe fans, however, aren’t convinced and are flooding the comments with suggestions this is a face-saving exercise after the club baulked at the asking price.
