RB Leipzig defender David Raum has admitted there is interest in his signature this summer, amid reports about Manchester United exploring a move.

Journalist Philipp Hinze reports comments from the 28-year-old today. It appears he is more than aware of rumours about his future, and potential suitors.

“I’m now heading into the final year of my contract,” he said.

“I don’t need to lie about the fact that inquiries are coming in – that’s obviously to be expected. As things stand, I’m looking forward to the season with Leipzig.”

Manchester United interest

Reports in England this week have put David Raum back on the radar for Manchester United ahead of the end of the transfer window.

The belief is that Manchester United could, and should, target a new left-back before the transfer window slams shut.

There are questions over Luke Shaw – who was heavily criticised following the loss to Hull – and Patrick Dorgu’s suitability to be Manchester United’s starting left-back. Most would like to see a new starting player signed in the role.

David Raum could be that man. He’s long been on Manchester United’s agenda. Indeed, all the way back in 2024 Sport Witness covered comments from the defender fully encouraging the Red Devils to make a move for him.

Easy transfer possible

That never happened but the Leipzig defender’s name is one that has continually popped up in the various transfer windows ever since. Now he’s back in the rumour mill again, albeit the situation is very different.

With just a year left on his contract, now is an ideal time for Leipzig to sell. If they don’t sell him this summer, they risk losing the full-back on a free next year. Indeed, he’ll be free to discuss a deal with clubs from January.

It mean there’s the potential for a cut-price deal if Manchester United want it. With Raum admitting that inquiries are coming in, perhaps one is from Old Trafford.
