IFK Göteborg’s Oliver Månsson says he’s aware of reports linking him to Arsenal and Chelsea and revealed his transfer dream.

The midfielder has reportedly caught the attention of the Premier League duo. The UK media recently stated his development at the Swedish club has left Arsenal and Chelsea impressed.

Månsson is a product of IFK Göteborg’s academy and has climbed through their ranks. His performances for their youth teams and rapid development helped him make his first team debut in March.

He played 1,272 minutes from 17 matches so far, mainly in the middle of the pitch and occasionally as a defensive midfielder. The 17-year-old has also represented youth teams, including Sweden U18s earlier this month.

Responds to Arsenal and Chelsea links

The youngster’s rise in Sweden has led to reports in the UK of both the Gunners and Xabi Alonso’s side wanting to secure his services.

At the weekend, he played the full 90 minutes in IFK Göteborg’s 2-2 draw against AIK Fotboll. After the match, Expressen caught up with him to discuss the latest performance and about Arsenal and Chelsea links.

Oliver Månsson revealed he’s aware of the transfer talk regarding Arsenal and Chelsea’s interest, but had to find out from social media.

He said: “No, I had no idea. I saw it on social media like everyone else. So… no, I didn’t know that.”

When further quizzed whether he would pick Arsenal or Chelsea, Månsson explained: “Haha, it’s hard to choose.”

Dream is to join Barcelona

The two London clubs may find it difficult to sign Oliver Månsson, this time, because of his dream of joining Barcelona. The Sweden U18 international explained this when asked whether he has a favourite Premier League team.

“No, I don’t actually have one. I haven’t. It’s been Barca for me, but… well, it’s always fun to have interest if there’s something. That’s how it is,” Månsson explained.

When asked whether he’s waiting for Barcelona to get in touch, Månsson concluded: “Yes, exactly (laughs).”
