Tottenham Hotspur are keen on signing Benfica’s Vangelis Pavlidis in January, to improve their attack.
The Premier League side are bottom of the table with three points after six league matches. Spurs are without a win and have scored only three goals so far, and two were in the 3-2 defeat to Aston Villa.
Tottenham can get out of the relegation zone with a win over Coventry City later today. While Roberto De Zerbi is preparing for this clash, his side seem to be working behind the scenes.
The north London club have the Greece international on their agenda, after his impressive run for Benfica.
Last season, he finished with 30 goals and six assists and extended his fine displays into this season. The Greece international has already scored 15 goals and contributed four assists from 15 matches.
Tottenham can help fulfil dream

The English club had a scout in attendance during Benfica’s league defeat to FC Porto in September. It wasn’t clear the players their official was following. Sport Witness suggested several possible targets, and since then there’s been a rash of “exclusives” reported elsewhere.
One of those involves Spurs interest in Vangelis Pavlidis.
On October 3rd, Sport Witness covered a report from Portugal explaining that he dreams of moving to the Premier League. Spurs and Aston Villa are among his suitors. Last week, the Portuguese press again named Tottenham Hotspur as an option in January.
A fresh report from Monday’s print edition of A Bola picks up on that and covers the latest. While his fine displays are attracting a few new clubs, his existing suitors are planning to take action.
The newspaper states ‘Tottenham are desperate’ and have made the Greece international their top target for the next window. This was first reported in the UK and A Bola share their take.
Tottenham concern for Benfica

Vangelis Pavlidis’ contract runs down in 2029, and includes a €100m release clause. The Portuguese club want to avoid the possibility of losing their star in January.
Marco Silva’s side intend to offer an improved deal, without raising his clause, to at least retain him until the end of the season.
This will give them enough time to find a suitable replacement for the frontman.
In short, Benfica will refer to his €100m clause if Roberto De Zerbi’s side or another club were to approach in January.
There are other European clubs in the picture but they don’t have the financial ability to spend like English clubs. Besides this, the Greek international dreams of playing in the Premier League. This can give Tottenham an advantage over his other suitors.
To sum it up, Tottenham have been told €100m is needed to sign Pavlidis in January and will face challenges if they were to postpone to next summer.
