Swansea City will currently be wondering what on earth has happened with their pursuit of Kim Hellberg being highjacked by Middlesbrough. The Hammarby manager held talks with the Swans last weeks, with those talks even confirmed by the Swedish club.

At the time, a move to Swansea City looked to be very close. Although it was made clear in Sweden there was interest from elsewhere in the Championship. That interest appears to have been from Middlesbrough, and they’ve pushed their league colleagues out of the picture.

As far as the Swedish media have it, Hellberg has chosen Middlesbrough partly due to league position. In addition, it’s also felt Boro are stronger in the market.

Swedish newspaper Expressen now bring an update regarding who the Hammarby manager is set to bring to the Championship with him.

Middlesbrough are said to now be in discussion with Hammarby for David Selini. He’s Hellberg’s current assistant, and the manager is demanding he follows.

Both are expected to sign multi-year contracts over the next few days. Hammarby are already working to recruit their replacement.
