Ukraine manager Andrea Maldera is hopeful Tottenham Hotspur‘s Mykhailo Mudryk can represent his country in the near future.
The winger last appeared for the national team in November 2024. He spent a long spell away from the pitch for a doping ban. In July, the Ukraine international became available to play again.
Xabi Alonso didn’t include him in his plans this season, and therefore, on deadline day, Chelsea let him join Tottenham on loan with an option to buy.
The move to north London club saw him reunite with Roberto De Zerbi, after previously working together at Shakhtar Donetsk.
Shakhtar sporting director Darijo Srna recently revealed De Zerbi wanted to make Mudryk his star at the Ukrainian club.
Disappointed with Tottenham man’s injury
Last week, Ukraine assistant manager Taras Stepanenko shared his delight over the 25-year-old joining Roberto De Zerbi’s side. He was also excited about Mykhailo Mudryk returning to the national team for the upcoming international break.
The attacker made his Spurs debut when he came off the bench in their goalless draw against Nottingham Forest.
He then suffered an injury in training, forcing him to miss matches with club and country at least until October.
The setback has forced Ukraine manager Andrea Maldera to leave him out of his squad.

Andrea Maldera has urged the Chelsea owned player to stay calm and focus on regaining full fitness. Antikor have relayed his comments.
“Unfortunately, you all saw his injury. We’re very sorry, and he’s sorry too,” he said.
“But he needs to stay calm. Of course, he’ll have other opportunities to play for the national team. Right now, he needs to focus on his recovery. What he’s been through hasn’t been easy.
“I told him he needs to stay calm. Perhaps in the future there will be an opportunity to play for the national team. We hope that he’ll be able to join our team soon.”
Sport.ua have relayed more comments from the Italian, where he confirms the national team are in contact with Tottenham Hotspur regarding Mykhailo Mudryk.
Maldera explained: “We’ve spoken with him. We’re in touch with both him and his club, and I told Mykhailo not to worry. We hope that in the near future he’ll be able to play for the national team.”
