Bayern Munich’s Harry Kane doesn’t seem to be over Tottenham Hotspur‘s decision to part ways with José Mourinho.
The England international graduated from the Premier League side’s academy. He spent close to two decades at Tottenham before leaving them for Bayern Munich in 2023.
Kane managed 280 goals and 63 assists from 435 matches for Spurs, of which 45 goals and 17 assists were from 62 matches under Mourinho.
In November 2019, the north London club appointed the Portuguese tactician as Mauricio Pochettino’s successor. Spurs won 45 and drew 17 of the 85 matches under Mourinho, scoring 173 goals and conceding 110.
In April 2021, the English club parted ways with the manager, just days before the EFL Cup final defeat to Manchester City.

Marca interviewed the 33-year-old and ask himed about José Mourinho, who returned to Real Madrid in the summer. The newspaper are curious whether the manager was ‘special’ to Harry Kane.
When responding to that, the striker shared his disappointment over Tottenham Hotspur’s decision to sack him in April 2021.
“Yes, I adore José. We had a really good relationship at Tottenham. It didn’t end the way we wanted, and José not getting the chance to manage that final was tough. It was difficult for me too,” he said.
“But yes, I had a very good relationship with him. I played some of my best games for Tottenham during his time there. I won the Golden Boot and the top assists award in the same year. He gave me a lot of freedom to be myself, to play freely, and to drop deep to receive the ball.”
“And I think that, as a person, he’s someone who understands every detail of the game, whether it’s with the ball, without the ball, tactically, with the referee… whatever it is, he understands every situation. I have a lot of respect for him.”
“It’s true we haven’t seen much of each other since he left Tottenham, but perhaps we’ll face each other in the Champions League this year, and it will be great to see him again.”
Kane’s former Spurs teammate, Carlos Vinícius, recently talked about Mourinho’s positive impact on his career.
How Kane has performed since leaving Tottenham
The frontman left Spurs without winning silverware. He came close twice, losing the Champions League [2019] and the EFL Cup [2021] finals to Liverpool and Manchester City respectively.
Since moving to Bayern Munich, Harry Kane has scored 150 goals and contributed 34 assists from 154 matches. He won both the title and DFB-Supercup twice and the DFB-Pokal last season.
After Kane left, Spurs finished 5th, 17th and 17th in the last three seasons and won the Europa League in May 2025.
