Football often moves quickly and for Fulham midfielder Hugo Larsson, that’s certainly been the case this week.
Just yesterday we were reporting that he was being left out of the Sweden squad for the international break.
We had comments from Sweden manager Graham Potter and everything, explaining his decision, insisting it was his decision and telling the 22-year-old what he needed to do to get back into the squad in future.
“In Hugo’s case, it’s a matter of me sticking with the same midfielders,” he said about the Fulham man.
“Hugo has made a big move and hasn’t played that much football. It’s important for him to adapt to a new league and a new club.”
Potter even insisted that there are “logical explanations” for Larsson and Williot Svanberg being left out of the squad.
“There’s nothing negative about them; we’ve simply chosen other players. That’s part of football. I’m sure they’re disappointed. It is entirely my decision,” he added.
24 hours later, though, and it seems all of that can be disregarded.
Larsson is back in the Sweden squad, thanks to an injury to Mattias Svanberg. Sweden confirmed his inclusion in an announcement today.
“Wolfsburg midfielder Mattias Svanberg had been selected for the squad, but it has now been confirmed that a minor injury will prevent him from participating,” it reads.
“Head coach Graham Potter has chosen to call up Hugo Larsson as a replacement.”

Does he want him?
So, there you go, 24 hours after being out of the picture, Larsson is now very much back in the picture.
He’ll now be a part of the squad convening on Monday before taking on Romania, Poland, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Romania again during the extended international break.
Whether he features, remains to be seen. Potter didn’t seem all that keen on the Fulham man yesterday, and has clearly turned to him last minute, through necessity rather than desire.
