Fiorentina are showing an interest in Brighton and Hove Albion defender Tariq Lamptey as a potential deputy for Dodo.
That’s according to journalist Alfredo Pedulla, who reports that the Italian side have shown a concrete interest in the Brighton defender.
According to his information, two other clubs are also interested in the full-back but Fiorentina are pushing to get a deal done with Brighton. The belief is that Lamptey would be added to the squad as an alternative to current full-back Dodo.
A move away from the south coast would be somewhat surprising for Lamptey given he only signed a new deal at the club this summer.
He was due to be a free agent and had offers in the Premier League, with several sides showing an interest in him, but ultimately signed a new deal instead.
That only runs until 2026, though, and perhaps Brighton are now considering this as their last opportunity to make money on the 24-year-old.
There’s also the issue of Lamptey being injured, having picked up an ankle problem back in May. That’s seen him miss the start of the season already and would presumably be a problem for Fiorentina.
They are pushing for a deal, though, and it’s something to keep an eye on in the final days of the transfer window.
