At the beginning of the season, there were endless claims in the Italian media that Torino would do everything they could to sign Nikola Vlasic on a permanent transfer.
The Italian side have him on loan from West Ham for the season, and during his first weeks in Turin he scored in three consecutive Serie A matches.
That, of course, set a lot of hype off.
Unfortunately, he only scored one more league goal between then and May, despite playing in a variety of attacking positions. Naturally, the hype died down and Vlasic’s stay at Torino was very much in doubt.
As footballers often do, he’s sparked back to life as his future nears decision time, and scored the only goal of the game against Hellas Verona at the weekend, which adds to a couple of assists in recent weeks.
Talk about him continuing has returned to the Italian media, and SportItalia have managed to get hold of the player’s agent.
Tonci Martic is quoted as saying: “Nikola is happy at Torino. I hope he grows together with Torino. Coach Juric is very important for his career.
“The future now, that’s all to be determined, as he should be back at base next month. It is difficult to say whether he will remain or not. It depends on the two clubs: everything is still open.”
West Ham will hope a deal can go through for a permanent transfer, adding a little to their transfer kitty for the summer.
