Throughout the summer transfer window, it became clear that Everton were targeting young players around Europe.

Director of football Marcel Brands has a history of hoovering up talent, with the idea being to develop them and potentially sell for high prices in future.

It’s something he did to great success with PSV Eindhoven and is now trying to repeat in his role with Everton.

As a result, the Blues were linked to numerous youngsters throughout the transfer window, and it seems one they were targeting was Sacha Semaoun.

According to La Dépêche, Everton sent scouts to watch the 18-year-old ‘several times’ in recent months and were ‘particularly interested’ in him.

There’s no mention of a formal offer being made for him, although he hints that was the case, telling the newspaper that he felt “it was too early to go abroad.”

He’s since transferred to Toulouse, electing to move there after turning down an offer from previous club Bordeaux because he felt the plan for his age group was too ‘vague’.

He’ll be hoping to develop and grow there with Everton likely keeping a close eye on proceedings after showing interest this summer.
