Everton are steps away from completing the signing of AS Monaco’s Folarin Balogun on deadline day. 

That’s according to journalist Sacha Tavolieri. He took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to report the fresh developments about the striker’s move to the Premier League side.

On Monday, Sport Witness relayed news of the American reaching an agreement with the Toffees for personal terms.

AS Monaco CEO Thiago Scuro has also confirmed negotiations for the player’s sale. He said: “Yes, it’s true that there are talks regarding Balogun, which is why [Matthis] Abline is also in the picture.” 

“But we’ll find that out very soon, and then we’ll finish putting the team together. Our situation depends on who leaves, and then we’ll know how much room we have to sign players. If we can give Filipe more options, we’ll do it.”

Sacha Tavolieri reports Folarin Balogun has pushed to leave the Ligue 1 side for Everton.

This has allowed the Merseyside club to make progress in their negotiations with Monaco and reach an agreement.

Details of Everton deal 

David Moyes’ side have agreed a deal with AS Monaco to sign the former Arsenal man for €45m plus €5m bonuses. Filipe Luís’ side have also secured a 10% sell-on clause. The expectation is for the 25-year-old to complete his return to England soon.

In another post on X, Sacha Tavolieri says: ‘Folarin Balogun to Everton’s a done deal.’

He further adds ‘all agreement found’, meaning Everton have reached a total agreement with both the American and his current club.

The frontman now has to carry out medical tests and sign the contract for the Toffees to announce his signing. He will undergo these examinations in the next few hours.

Balogun’s decision to push to join Everton is helping them to wrap up this operation soon. Last season, he managed 19 goals and four assists for Monaco.
