Liverpool‘s Ifeanyi Ndukwe is on his way to Levante UD on a season long loan deal this summer.
Earlier this year, the Premier League side reached an agreement with FK Austria Wien for the centre-back to arrive at Anfield in July.
Post-Brexit rules prevented the centre-back from joining Liverpool in January as he turned 18 years of age in March.
No immediate future at Liverpool
Andoni Iraola has utilised the Austria U19 international during pre-season but can’t count on him this season.
That’s because the defender hasn’t got a work permit to play in the UK. Therefore, Liverpool have no choice but to send the 18-year-old out on loan to a club outside the UK.
Last week, Ifeanyi Ndukwe’s agent Georg Lederer confirmed he was in talks with multiple clubs, without revealing their details.
Randers FC have shown interest, while Tipsbladet now rule out a temporary move to Denmark.
Liverpool youngster on his way to Spain
Sky Sport in Austria report the young defender is on the verge of joining Levante UD this summer.
The expectation is for Ifeanyi Ndukwe to travel to Spain, to carry out medical tests and other transfer formalities.
Journalist Eric Niederseer covered this report. He took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to share additional details.
Ndukwe’s situation at Liverpool have seen him attract interest from several clubs. As well as the Spanish club, other unnamed clubs from La Liga and Portugal have shown interest in the Austrian.
However, he has decided to join Levante, without Sky or Niederseer providing any further explanation.
The Reds haven’t agreed a purchase clause because they have long-term plans for Ndukwe. He has a contract until 2031.
The loan move should allow him to gain prominence at the highest level in Spain, and this could benefit Liverpool once he returns to Anfield in 2027.
Niederseer says the expectation is for Ndukwe to travel to Spain ‘soon’ while Sky are saying ‘in the coming days’.
