Liverpool‘s Curtis Jones has been linked with a move to Inter Milan and talk around his desire to leave the Reds is now growing.

This week, Sport Witness have covered how optimism in Italy has increased about Inter landing the Englishman. Intermediaries are working to bring both the parties closer, with the Nerazzurri having held fresh talks with Jones’ entourage.

The player’s current deal runs out in the summer of 2027. He has been keen on the move, having been close to joining last January.

Inter’s inability to sell Davide Frattesi changed things but increasingly, things could now change.

Jones is front page news in Italy

Today’s print edition of Gazzetta dello Sport cover the Liverpool player’s situation on their front page, highlighting how desperate he is to join Inter.

This has been described as a ‘mutual love affair’. Jones is aware Inter aren’t targeting any other midfielder and he is their prime target. Indeed, Cristian Chivu sees the England man as a dream signing and wants only him.

Jones doesn’t want to consider joining any other club either, even if Liverpool’s stance hasn’t exactly swayed yet.

The newspaper mention that Jones’ relationship with Andoni Iraola hasn’t taken off. Inter want to take advantage and soon make an offer worth €30m for the midfielder. While the Italian champions know Liverpool’s valuation is higher, they want to rely on Jones’ wish for the transfer to secure a deal.

Previously, Luis Henrique’s departure was said to be key. Gazzetta deny this, noting that Inter could sign the Reds’ star without selling the Brazilian. Jones’ ability on the play on the right is especially appealing to Chivu, who has used midfielder Andy Diouf in a wing-back role in pre-season.

Our take: Italian media love the story

Since Jones is Inter’s dream signing, they could continue to keep tabs on the situation until late in the window. In the meantime, the Italian press can’t get enough of it.

This doesn’t mean the Reds will give in, though. They are no strangers to keeping players until the expiry of their contract. Ibrahima Konate’s exit to Real Madrid shows that.

So Inter still have a task to do and a deal won’t be easy. Making a new offer for the 25-year-old is a start.
