Stanislav Lobotka has been a key player for Napoli in the last few seasons and has attracted interest from Tottenham.
The midfielder has now won two Serie A titles in Naples and was instrumental in both of those campaigns. This led to him becoming one of the best midfielders in the Italian top-flight.
In the 2025/26 season, he played 32 times in the league, also featuring six times in the Champions League.
Last year, Sport Witness covered Manchester United’s interest in the Slovakian, who was then valued at around €40m.
Tottenham are now in the picture to sign him, with the move facing difficulties.
Spurs have made approach
Il Mattino report Napoli are keen on renewing the contracts of key players. They haven’t made any major signings this summer and are prioritising keeping what they have.
Lobotka’s situation finds mention. The Naples newspaper states Tottenham have stepped forward for his signature.
They made an offer for him in mid-August but there is certainty the 31-year-old is staying at Napoli.
This decision has been made by Lobotka himself, even if his contract runs out in 2027. He is keen on signing a new deal, with Napoli CEO Aurelio de Laurentiis happy with his commitment to the Partenopei.
The same applies for Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa, who had attracted interest from Sunderland.
Lobotka could’ve been a very good signing
The Slovakia international is currently 31 but is just as effective as he was some seasons ago. He does pick up physical problems but that has been the case for a while. Lobotka can still offer a rare ability to conduct play from deep in midfield.
That is why he would’ve been a very good signing for Tottenham. Adding experience to a midfield which will have Sandro Tonali and Mateus Fernandes. Roberto De Zerbi’s system usually needs one tempo dictator and Lobotka could have been a vital addition in that position.
For now, a move looks very difficult. If an opportunity lands though, Spurs shouldn’t hesitate.
