Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner has announced his decision to leave the Premier League side after this season.

The Eagles are already looking for contenders to take over from the Austrian at Selhurst Park.

On April 15th, Sport Witness covered claims from Spain of Crystal Palace making an offer to Andoni Iraola.

This report surfaced a day after he confirmed his AFC Bournemouth exit at the end of this season.

Crystal Palace’s interest in Marcelino

The Spaniard isn’t the only one as his compatriot, Marcelino García Toral, is also on the London club’s radar.

That’s according to EFE, relayed by Mundo Deportivo, who cover the latest on Crystal Palace.

Earlier this week, the Villarreal boss became the latest manager to announce his decision to leave after this season.

The English club have made first contact with the 60-year-old, to find out if he’s open to joining them.

Since 2011, he’s managed Sevilla, Villarreal, Valencia, Athletic Club Bilbao, Marseille and Villarreal again. In short, the Spaniard has ‘extensive experience’, which could benefit Crystal Palace.

The manager returned to Villarreal in 2023 and helped them qualify for the Champions League on two occasions.

The Yellow Submarine are third in the table, four points ahead of fourth placed Atlético Madrid and 15 ahead of fifth placed Real Betis.

Marcelino’s Villarreal record from his second spell:

  • Matches: 117
  • Wins: 59
  • Draws: 25
  • Loses: 33
  • Goals scored: 224
  • Goals conceded: 175

It’s unclear whether the La Liga side’s boss is open to moving to Selhurst Park.

What next for Glasner and Crystal Palace

The Austrian helped the Eagles win the FA Cup last season, the first major silverware in the club’s history.

Oliver Glasner can help Crystal Palace win the UEFA Conference League this season. The English club, who have a 3-1 first leg lead, face Shakhtar Donetsk in the second leg of their semifinal later today.

Back in February, Sport Witness covered a surprise claim that Colombia could appoint the Eagles boss if Néstor Lorenzo is sacked after the World Cup.

Glasner’s future plans are unclear while Crystal Palace are already working on finding his replacement.
