Ivan Ilić is yet to represent Manchester City since he joined them from Red Star Belgrade in 2017, and the midfielder has spent time away on loan, where he finished the 2020/21 season at Hellas Verona.

On June 28th, Corriere dello Sport discussed about the Serie A side’s desire to retain the 20-year-old next season on another loan deal.

TuttoMercatoWeb on Thursday are reporting the Italian club are ‘working on a possible return’ of the Serbia international in the ongoing window.

It’s claimed that Hellas Verona have taken the necessary steps by already making a loan ‘proposal’ [€1m loan fee] to the Premier League winners.

The report doesn’t mention whether or not the Manchester based club have accepted Hellas Verona’s offer, but TMW do state they will face ‘strong competition’ from ES Troyes AC.

Pep Guardiola’s side are owned by the City Football Group and the latter acquired a majority stake at the French club last September.

Troyes have been promoted to Ligue 1 and whether this, coupled with their ties to City, would have an impact on Hellas Verona signing Ilić again remains to be seen.
