Robin Pröpper left the Netherlands for the first time last summer, when FC Twente sold him to Rangers. In December, the defender said he’d had no plans for the move and it ‘felt very strange’ to leave the Eredivisie side and make a switch to Ibrox.

Four days ago, we covered claims from the Dutch press which stated there’s a realistic chance for the centre-back to return to Twente in the summer window.

SoccerNews state the Dutch club are ‘very seriously interested’ in bringing him back from Rangers.

Since the 31-year-old moved to the Scottish club, Twente haven’t found a reliable player to fill in his shoes. Mees Hilgers, Alec Van Hoorenbeck and Gustaf Lagerbielke [on loan from Celtic] were unable to impress this season.

Therefore, one of Twente’s ‘big goals’ is to take the experienced Dutchman away from Rangers. They are ‘very keen’ on the player and the possibility of securing his services is being seriously considered internally.

SoccerNews have no information on whether Pröpper is willing to return, a year after leaving the club. Rangers paid over €3m and there’s no mention of the fee needed to convince them to let him return.
