Celtic and Wolves are interested in Wolfsberger AC goalkeeper Nikolas Polster, with the Austrian side preparing for an exit.
Sky Sports Austria report that WAC are demanding a transfer fee of at least at least €1.5m for the 23-year-old this summer.
Celtic and Wolves interest
They report that a list of clubs are showing an interest in the Wolfsberger AC goalkeeper this summer. Clubs from Germany, alongside Celtic and Wolves are keen on the 23-year-old.
According to Sky’s information, the Austrian side will ask for around €1.5m and €2m for the goalkeeper this summer.
Nikolas Polster himself wants the move. He is looking to take the next step in his career and hopes to move abroad this summer.
The goalkeeper came through the youth ranks at SK Rapi and moved to LASK in the 2020 summer transfer window. He’s also enjoyed stints at Vorwärts Steyr and SV Horn, before joining Wolfsberger in July 2024.
He’s been the number one since, making 67 appearances in total, with 79 goals conceded and 20 clean sheets. This season he has 33 appearances in all competitions, conceding 43 goals.
Goalkeeping changes
Now a move to the United Kingdom could be on the cards, with Celtic and Wolves both showing an interest in the goalkeeper.
Celtic are likely looking for a long-term replacement for Kasper Schmeichel. The Danish goalkeeper has faced criticism this season. They also have Viljami Sinisalo and Ross Doohan in their squad.
Wolves’ current options are Jose Sa, Sam Johnstone and Daniel Bentley. The latter is currently playing as the other two are injured. But big changes are likely on the way this summer following relegation back to the Championship.
Sa and Johnstone’s deals expire next summer, while Bentley’s current contract expires in 2028. At least two of them need to be resolved in the coming months, then. And it appears that Niklas Polster is on their list.
