AFC Bournemouth have prioritised signing Lille’s Bafodé Diakité this summer.

At start of last month, claims from France explained the Cherries have agreed personal terms with the centre-back. On July 19th, Journalist Fabrice Hawkins reported the Ligue 1 club have rejected a €30m bid from Bournemouth.

Four days later, Foot Mercato stated the Premier League club have decided to walk away from this operation, after Lille set a €40m price.

The latest claims from France are now reporting Bournemouth are back in the game to sign the 24-year-old.

Journalist Abdellah Boulma took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to report that Andoni Iraola’s side have submitted an offer close to Lille’s expectations. Another journalist, Marc Mechenoua, has backed up Boulma’s claim.

The two journalists, however, haven’t mentioned the fee offered by the English club or Lille’s demand. If Foot Mercato’s earlier report is to be believed, the Ligue 1 club’s request is around €40m.

There could be developments as Boulma and Mechenoua also haven’t mentioned Lille’s response to Bournemouth’s latest offer.

Bournemouth are in the process of finalising Illia Zabarnyi’s sale to Paris Saint-Germain. His impending exit has seen the English club return to sign Diakité.
