On Tuesday, there were claims in the Turkish media that Aston Villa remain interested in signing Beşiktaş forward Tammy Abraham.

The 28-year-old has been linked with a return to Villa Park this month following his loan spell a few seasons ago.

With just Ollie Watkins as the Premier League side’s only out-and-out senior centre forward, Unai Emery may look to address this.

Currently on loan from AS Roma, Beşiktaş have an obligation to purchase the attacker for €13m if certain criteria are met. The Black Eagles are prepared to bring that purchase forward, and then sell Abraham for €20m.

According to Turkiye Gazetesi, Aston Villa are now looking to use Evann Guessand in a possible attempt to re-sign Abraham.

The latest offer has been tabled with Beşiktaş, but there’s no indication of whether the Black Eagles are interested.

Aston Villa transfer plan developing

Fırat Günayer reports on the latest developments regarding this proposal, and he says Villa will offer to loan Guessand for 18 months.

The Turkish journalist reports the Villans are prepared to pay a transfer fee for Abraham. A deal could then be reached if the player agrees to their salary offer.

Guessand arrived at Aston Villa for £30m last August, but has failed to get regular playing time. With Emery having a number of options in the wide attacking areas he could look to sacrifice the 24-year-old.

The winger is set to return to Birmingham after Ivory Coast were eliminated from the AFCON quarter finals last week. He was involved in all five of his country’s games, including the 3-2 defeat to Egypt.

Abraham impressed for Aston Villa whilst on loan from Chelsea during the 2018/19 season. He scored 26 goals in 46 games, before returning to Stamford Bridge.

This season he’s scored 12 times in 25 appearances for The Black Eagles. Two of those goals have come over his past three league matches.
