Cristiano Ronaldo’s situation at Manchester United ended up becoming a top story in the world football media this week. Not only because the club’s punishment to the player deserved to be reported, but also because everyone has something to say about it as well.
In France, the scenario was discussed on the Rothen S’enflamme show, where Arsenal legend Emmanuel Petit had a few words to say about it. It turns out the former Gunners’ midfielder went quite heavy on the Portuguese star, blaming his ego for his recent attitudes.
“He tires everyone: the supporters, his teammates… They don’t want him anymore in the locker room, he pollutes everyone so much,” said Petit (via RMC Sport).
As confirmed by Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag in a press conference on Friday, Cristiano Ronaldo refused to be brought on as a late substitute during the 2-0 win against Tottenham Hotspur on Wednesday. Following the disagreement with the manager, the player left the bench, and, according to reports, was out of Old Trafford before the end of the game.
As officially stated by the club, the 37-year-old is now ruled out of the weekend’s clash against Chelsea. On Instagram, the player promised to continue working normally at the club.
