The father of Club Brugge midfielder Hans Vanaken has welcomed the likes of Arsenal and Tottenham to offer his son a move next summer.
Vanaken has long been linked with a move to the Premier League over the last few years after impressing in Belgium for Club Brugge, where he’s made himself a star.
For one reason or another, the move has never happened, with interest never turning into anything more concrete.
At 29-years-old this may be the last year for him to secure such a move, and he’s certainly started the season like he intends to get one, with five goals and two assists to his name in ten games in all competitions, so far.
Those years saw him win the Belgian Professional Footballer of the Year award, and his father is hoping for another big season so he can get the likes of Arsenal and Tottenham interested.
“Hans played one of his best halves ever,” he told HLN Sportcast.
“The national team has given him an extra boost, and we really enjoy seeing Hans play like that. How we celebrated the win? We had gin-tonics.
“One more top year with Club, maybe a third Golden Shoe, and then a top transfer. Arsenal, Tottenham, let those teams come!
“Me giving him a push? No. I have two children, and the most important thing is that they are happy. Then the rest comes.”
