Luca Pellegrini stayed at Juventus in the summer despite having the opportunity to move elsewhere, with West Ham and Sampdoria keen on the player, report Calciomercato.

They explain that even when the 22-year-old was told he wouldn’t be considered for the club’s Champions League squad, he was determined to stay and see if his luck changed at the Turin club.

That hasn’t happened, and the player has had just 58 minutes of football so far this season, which came earlier this month against Napoli.

Calciomercato say Pellegrini can leave Juventus ‘in January’, and the assumption is he may now be more willing to do so. The lack of football won’t be helping his development, and it’s increasingly clear that if he wants minutes then he’s going to have to find them away from Max Allegri’s side.

Sampdoria are ready to make another attempt, and whilst there’s less information on how West Ham currently see things, the opportunity is clearly there for a winter swoop.

Pellegrini was highly rated when he was coming through the ranks in Italian football, and has an appearance for the national side. Juventus paid €22m for him in 2019, so it’s an interesting option should West Ham interest be rekindled.
