Benfica winger Andre Carrillo was giving a regular interview during the international break when he was asked what league he dreams of playing in.
The interview was in Peru, so the player said with no fear: “The English. It’s the league that attracts me most, the one I like most, where I think my football suits best.”
They claim that both Leicester City and Bournemouth have tried to sign the player before the end of the last summer window.
West Ham and West Brom are also said to have followed Carrillo, but it seems they didn’t get as far as the other two.
The winger managed a controversial move in Portugal last season, with a few months left on his contract at Sporting, he signed a pre-contract with rivals Benfica.
He was obviously isolated from the Sporting squad and spent a while without playing. But things didn’t work out as expected after his arrival at the Eagles, as he’s still struggling to get some game time. He has only managed 296 minutes this season.
Carrillo’s quote will obviously encourage rumours of a transfer to England, and O Jogo have clearly decided Leicester City and Bournemouth are the chosen ones. Claudio Ranieri’s men have scouted in Portugal, and of course bought Islam Slimani from Sporting, so they may well have the better information.
