Barcelona legend Xavi Hernandez has been speaking to Spanish radio station Cadena SER (via AS) about the Manchester derby on Saturday. The match is arguably the biggest football story across Europe at the moment, with big articles already in Spain, Italy and Portugal.
He said: “I want the best team to win on Saturday. I have affection towards Pep Guardiola, but there are also Spanish internationals Juan Mata and David De Gea at Manchester United.”
Xavi also insisted Guardiola is tactically the best coach he has worked with, and doesn’t think Jose Mourinho’s style would suit his game.
He added: “Guardiola is the best coached I have had at tactical level. He is second to none.
“I don’t believe Mourinho’s football would match my qualities, but we’re professionals. Everybody changes jobs, and people go where you think they’ll be better.”
This isn’t the first time Guardiola and Mourinho are going head to head, but it’s one of the most awaited games of the season for fans around the world.
Xavi is 36 years of age so he probably doesn’t have to worry too much about Mourinho’s style of play suiting his game, it’s unlikely Manchester United are about to make a swoop for the legend.
