Following his interview with the Dutch media on Thursday, Teun Koopmeiners has set some tongues wagging, as he hinted he would be open to a move to the rainy Premier League, where Liverpool are well known to be interested.

This has led to Gazzetta dello Sport having a big article covering the midfielder, and cannot avoid talking about the fact the Reds are the main competition for Juventus.

They also bring Xabi Alonso into the mix, as the Spanish manager is the favourite to take over from Jürgen Klopp once he leaves Anfield at the end of the season.

Gazzetta cover all of Juventus’ plans to try and get Koopmeiners ahead of the competition, but recall that Liverpool made an enquiry for the Dutchman about a month or so ago.

That isn’t all that unusual, but the worry for the Turin side is the wealth at the Anfield side’s disposal, as they know that the Premier League side can make an ‘attractive offer’ to both Atalanta and the player in order to ensure the transfer.

It’s said that the Serie A side will ‘start with a demand of around €60m’, and while that is their starting point and could be negotiated down a bit, the feeling is they are ‘unlikely to agree to go below €50m’.

What also doesn’t help them is that Xabi Alonso is said to be one of Koopmeiners’ ‘biggest fans’, and the interest from Liverpool could force Cristiano Giuntoli at Juventus to ‘pick up the pace’, especially if his side manager to guarantee a spot in next season’s Champions League before the final days of Serie A.

Over at Corriere dello Sport, there is much of the same being reported, but they do add that Liverpool are ‘ready to invest’ €60m in the player, and are ‘following him very closely’.

If the midfielder is keen on a move to Anfield, he will also get a chance to experience the atmosphere first hand in the near future, as Atalanta and the Reds are set to face each other in the Europa League quarter-finals.
