Gerard Deulofeu has been identified as a target for Aston Villa and the Premier League side’s interest in the Udinese player has already been confirmed by his agent.

On January 17th, Gazzetta dello Sport reported the Serie A side are open to cashing in from his sale in the winter market.

The same newspaper reported on Tuesday the forward has a ‘rich offer’ from Aston Villa worth €4m per year.

It was also explained that the Villans are ready to offer €20m to the Italian club to acquire his signature.

Aston Villa have allowed Danny Ings to join West Ham United and added Jhon Durán to their squad this month.

Despite this, Unai Emery’s side are looking at other options for the attack and Deulofeu has been identified as one of the targets.

However, Aston Villa’s plans to sign the former Watford man have suffered something of a blow after Udinese confirmed he will seek advice from a specialist to resolve the discomfort in his knee.

“Udinese Calcio announces that, following repeated episodes of instability in his right knee, made aware by Deulofeu, in the absence of distortion traumas, he has decided, by mutual agreement with the player, to resort to specialist advice to evaluate the recovery process,” the Italian club confirmed on Twitter.

The Spaniard returned to the pitch in his side’s win over Sampdoria last weekend after being on the sidelines for more than two months. The latest setback is likely to see Aston Villa shift their focus on other targets.
