The 2019 Women’s World Cup is expected to be hotly contested, with numerous teams believing they have what it takes to claim the trophy this summer.

Hosts France are joint-favourites with United States at Betway to win the tournament, while Germany and England are also prominent in the betting.

France kick-off the action in Paris on June 7 when they face South Korea, with the World Cup Final taking place in Lyon on July 7.

There are six groups of four teams in the opening stage, with the top two in each and the four best third-placed sides progressing to the round of 16. The groups are as follows:

  • Group A – France, South Korea, Norway, Nigeria
  • Group B – Germany, China, Spain, South Africa
  • Group C – Australia, Italy, Brazil, Jamaica
  • Group D – England, Scotland, Argentina, Japan
  • Group E – Canada, Cameroon, New Zealand, Netherlands
  • Group F – United States, Thailand, Chile, Sweden

France head into the tournament full of confidence after losing just one of their last nine matches in all competitions.

They defeated the US 3-1 back in January, before being beaten narrowly by Germany the following month.

However, five successive victories since then by a combined scoreline of 18-2 suggests they are a team to be feared on home soil.

The US are priced at 7/2 with Betway sports betting to win the World Cup for the fourth time and they will be extremely tough to beat this summer.

They have lost just one of their previous 38 matches in all competitions and have conceded only three goals in their last six outings, and are expected to make the final.

Norway and Spain look good bets to join the big two in the last 16, although South Korea will believe they can cause an upset in Group A.

Germany’s recent 2-0 victory over Chile moved their unbeaten run to 12 matches and the 2011 winners are strongly fancied to reach the latter stages of the tournament.

Spain and China are expected to fight for second place in Group B, with the European side likely to win that particular battle.

Brazil and Australia should progress from Group C, although it would be unwise to write off Italy and they are certainly capable of reaching the knockout stage.

England won the SheBelievesCup earlier this year, but a 1-0 defeat against New Zealand in their final warm-up match was a wake-up call for Phil Neville’s side.

The Lionesses should get out of the group alongside Japan or Scotland, but they don’t appeal as likely winners of the tournament.

Netherlands look a great bet to win Group E having played impressively two years ago to win the European Championships. Canada should edge out New Zealand for second spot.

2019 Women’s World Cup Prediction

France will be tough to beat on home soil, but they look too short in the betting right now. The same statement applies to the US as they try and defend the title they won in 2015.

Germany can be backed at odds of 11/2 at Betway to claim the trophy for a second time and they look the pick of the week in what promises to be a closely fought tournament.
