On Tuesday, African outlet Own Goal Nigeria published a story revealing several clubs are interested in Porto defender Chidozie Awaziem.

It was claimed that Borussia Monchengladbach, Valencia and Wolverhampton Wanderers are all chasing the 23-year-old, who’s currently having a loan spell at Boavista.

However, as the Portuguese media responds to the rumours today, they basically rule out these clubs’ chances of signing Awaziem.

O Jogo’s report says that Boavista are actually using their buying option to keep the player, so there’s no chance any of these sides can get to him before they do.

Awaziem is a pretty important player for Boavista, and started 11 games for them this season, having only missed the one against Porto due to contract reasons.

O Jogo doesn’t say how much the club will spend to keep him, but in case Wolves or any other side now want to buy him directly from Boavista, they should probably know he’ll be a little more expensive with a new contract in hand.

When still belonging to Porto last summer, Awaziem had a release clause of €30m.
