Napoli are eyeing a move for Wolverhampton Wanderers forward Adama Traoré as a replacement for Hirving Lozano.
That’s according to La Repubblica, who say the Italian side see the Spanish winger as a solid investment given his low wages.
They explain that Lozano could leave Napoli this summer as his contract is due to expire in 2024 and there is no sign of a new one being agreed.
That leaves this summer window as the last in which they could secure a proper sale and Napoli intend to take advantage of that, particularly as there is Premier League interest in the Mexican.
He ‘likes the profiles’ of Traoré and Armand Laurienté, who plays for Sassuolo in Serie A, but Traoré is of particular interest as his contract with Wolves is set to expire in June.
He also only earns €3m per year, which is €1.5m less than Lozano and means Napoli would be able to ‘make an affordable investment’ in signing him.
Traoré is also significantly cheaper than Laurienté, who has had a €20m price tag slapped on him by Sassuolo after managing three goals and two assists in ten games in Serie A this season and also picking up interest from Atalanta and AC Milan.
That would seemingly make the Wolves man the favourite in the two-horse race to replace Lozano, who is set to depart in the summer and leave a hole that Giuntoli already has a plan to fill.
