Wolves interest in the Valencia right-back João Cancelo is starting to be taken very seriously in Spain.
This Monday, outlet Super Deporte has a big story on the right-back, claiming that it’s very unlikely he will stay at Valencia for next season.
There are several clubs in the race. One of them is Inter Milan, who chose not to use the buying option (stated as €38 by Super Deporte today, previously reported as €35) over him. They are still negotiating with Valencia to get the player for a better fee, while there’s the local competition from Juventus and Napoli.
In England, Manchester United are still believed to be contenders, but it’s Wolves who really gets three paragraphs in the story.
Super Deporte claims that Nuno Espírito Santo is a long time fan of Cancelo, and could now make him a priority target for the summer market. As Jorge Mendes is the agent of both player and manager and also helps Wolves, he’s the one who could make it happen.
But the website is not afraid to say that the Championship winners are the least fancy destination for Cancelo right now. So Wolves wouldn’t have an easy task to attract the player to the Molineux.
With such a long list of pretenders, the auction for the right-back should become quite interesting in the next couple of months… if any of the interest other than Inter is real.
