It seems Brentford and Wolverhampton Wanderers still have a shot at signing Hugo Ekitike from Paris Saint Germain.

The 21-year-old has been involved in a big saga in the current transfer market, as many clubs are said to be interested but nobody has managed to close a deal.

In Germany, Kicker today first reports that Wolfsburg won’t be signing Ekitike, and it’s ‘clear’ that he’s not arriving at the club this month.

The very same outlet also claims there’s a ‘question mark’ in Eintracht Frankfurt’s chase for the player, as there’s been ‘difficult poker’ with PSG to get his signing done.

That can only be good news for Brentford and Wolves, as they have both been linked to the centre-forward during this window.

Last week, it was said by RMC Sport that Brentford made an offer for Ekitike, although there’s been no update on that case since.

Meanwhile, L’Equipe reported that Wolves were also interested in the player, despite his reported deal with Frankfurt.

Now that the German track seems to be fading away, it seems there’s a bigger chance for Ekitike to move to the Premier League.

Reading between the lines, the player and PSG appear to holding out for a super opportunity. If that doesn’t come in the next few days then a deal should be easier to do.
