Wolverhampton Wanderers have agreed a €40m deal with Porto for striker Fábio Silva, with a deal expected to be announced today.
Portuguese newspaper Record report that the striker’s arrival at Molineux is ‘imminent’ with Jorge Mendes having been key to negotiations once again.
Wolves are keen to keep building their squad this summer, particularly after a gruelling and long campaign in both the Premier League and Europe last season.
Adding further firepower is high among Nuno Espirito Santo’s plans, with suitable back up for Raul Jimenez a necessity given they have only Léo Bonatini or Leonardo Campana as back up to the Mexican.
The 18-year-old’s arrival is said to be ‘imminent’, with the newspaper claiming that it ‘should be made official this Saturday’ (i.e. today).
Silva will become the first significant departure from Porto this summer, who had made it clear he could leave for €40m, despite him having a €125m release clause in his contract, as that amount is ‘fundamental’ to them complying with Financial Fair Play regulations this season and next.
As always Jorge Mendes has been key to the deal with it claimed that the deal to take the youngster, who managed eight goals and six assists in 33 games last season, was completed under his ‘supervision’.
