Now that Sporting have a new administrative board, the club’s objective is to bring some of the players who rescinded their contracts back.

They’re doing it little by little, speaking to each of the nine guys who chose to leave the club after the attacks at Alcochete.

From these nine, there’s only one who has already signed with another club, which is Rui Patrício. Announced by Wolverhampton Wanderers last month, the goalkeeper was the only who quickly found a new home.

But that isn’t a big problem for Sporting, because according to A Bola today, the Lions are getting closer to finding a deal with the Championship winners so Patrício won’t be moving for free.

The outlet doesn’t make it clear how much will Wolves be paying for Patrício, but recalls that €18m was on the table when the transfer collapsed due to the demands from the ex-president Bruno de Carvalho.

As the Portuguese press has been saying for a while now, Wolverhampton wouldn’t be obliged to pay Sporting a fee, unless a court rules against the goalkeeper, but they want to do it so there will be no bad blood between the clubs in the future.
