‘Without doubt or uncertainty’ – Tottenham Hotspur were rejected without any regret or second thoughts

After an extensive search last summer, Tottenham Hotspur ended up with Nuno Espírito Santo to lead them this season.

However, things didn’t go well for Spurs under the former Wolves manager’s guidance and, after managing only five wins and five losses from 10 league matches, he was shown the exit door last November.

Antonio Conte arrived as Nuno Espírito Santo’s successor at the north London club and prior to bringing in the ex-Chelsea boss, the Premier League side looked at Italy coach Roberto Mancini. That’s what Il Mattino are reporting today.

Mancini, who helped the Azzurri win the European championship last summer, failed to guide Italy to the 2022 World Cup. After losing to North Macedonia last week, his position with the national was questioned, even though his contract with them lasts until 2026.

However, he has no intention to step down and didn’t have it in the past, which is why the 57-year-old ‘didn’t falter’ when he received a call from Spurs last November.

Mancini, ‘without doubt or uncertainty’, bluntly said ‘no’ to Tottenham when they made an approach for him, because his long-term future is with Italy.

Clearly Mancini had no thoughts of taking the Tottenham job and he seems to have no regrets over rejecting the Premier League side to continue with the national team.
